The festive season is upon us! From supermarkets to sandwich shops - everyone is releasing their take on a Christmas sandwich.
I will be tasting said sandwiches and reviewing them as I go...
Sandwich #2 Starbucks
"Turkey feast" - £3.99
"Turkey feast" - £3.99
Bread - This thoughtful piece of Christmassy goodness comes in a rustic looking baguette. Sensitive roof of mouthers need not fear though as it is a lot softer than it may first appear. I chose to have mine toasted, I recommend you do the same.
Filling - As I am not a Starbucks regular I really wasn't sure what to expect from this sandwich, but I was pleasantly surprised. The "Turkey feast" boasts pulled turkey, stuffing, cranberry and ale chutney, maple cured bacon and even some gravy amongst other things. Once my sandwich was cool enough to eat I tucked in and was immediately treated to familiar flavours of a Christmas dinner, you can really taste the turkey, bacon, stuffing and gravy. With the cranberry occasionally coming through with pleasant undertones of Christmas allspice. I really enjoyed this sandwich, a fantastic effort at capturing those Christmas day flavours.
My only criticism really would come down to texture, because of the gravy bechemel and chutney all in one sandwich, it is a bit sloppy on the inside, maybe a little crunch would take this treat to the next level.
Well done Starbucks!
